The East End runs from Dennistoun and Bridgeton through Parkhead, Shettleston, Tollcross, Baillieston and Easterhouse (postcodes G31–G34) — a mix of tight residential streets and larger industrial estates, which is why a lot of the area's MOT stations operate out of unit-based premises rather than traditional forecourt garages. That's usually a good sign for turnaround: unit garages tend to have more bay space than a street-front shop, so same-day or next-day slots are more common here than in denser parts of the city.

One local thing worth knowing

If you're near Parkhead, Celtic Park matchdays (Saturday kick-offs especially) bring significant road closures and traffic around London Road and the Gallowgate for a few hours either side of the game. It's rarely a problem for booking an MOT itself, but if you're planning to drop the car off and walk or bus somewhere nearby on a home matchday, building in extra time is worth it. The M8 and M74 both have East End junctions, so commuters heading in from Coatbridge, Baillieston or Rutherglen are well served for a garage near their route in rather than detouring into town.

Further out: Baillieston and Easterhouse

The East End stretches a lot further than most people picture — Baillieston and Easterhouse sit right up against the M8/M73 junction and the Glasgow city boundary, closer to Coatbridge and Bargeddie than to the city centre. Glasgow Fort retail park, just off the M8 at Easterhouse, means it's realistic to drop a car at a nearby garage and spend the wait doing a shop rather than sitting in a waiting room, similar to how West End drivers use Byres Road.
